The takchita is the celebration dress of Moroccan women. Two layered robes, an ornate belt, and embroidery that reveals itself with every movement. Our takchitas are made in Fes for weddings, henna nights and major celebrations.
A takchita is made of two pieces. The first, the tahtiya, is a simple flowing dress worn against the body; it often carries the finest embroidery. The second, the dfina, goes over the top: open at the sides or the front, it lets the layer beneath show through. The whole is drawn in at the waist by the mdamma, an embroidered or jewelled belt. It is this play of layers that sets the takchita apart from the caftan.
At a Moroccan wedding the bride changes outfit several times over the course of the evening, and a takchita almost always takes one of those slots. Guests wear them too, in shades chosen not to compete with the bride's. We recommend allowing six to eight weeks for a made-to-measure wedding takchita, embroidery included.

It depends on the model. The belt is specified on each product page, and we can also add one on request.
Makhzania embroidery is the court register, the most formal one: dense motifs laid by hand on the dfina, often in gold thread, with matching sfifa braid and aakad buttons. It is the longest work of all, and the one chosen for a bridal takchita.
